Getting started

Vaulty is manual-first: you log transactions yourself instead of connecting a bank. That sounds like work — it isn't. Merchant memory autofills the category and account the moment it recognizes a name, Enter saves every form, “Save & add another” keeps the modal open for a burst, and any bank's CSV export imports in one mapping step. Most people log a day's spending in under a minute.

The fastest path on day one: add an account with its current balance, set a budget for two or three categories, add the subscriptions and bills you know about — the dashboard checklist walks you through it.

Why is there no bank connection?

By conviction, not limitation. Bank feeds mean handing your credentials (or an aggregator token) to a third party, breakage every time a bank changes its login flow, and a monthly per-user fee that someone has to pay. Manual-first means nothing to leak, nothing to break — and the act of logging keeps you honest with your money. If you want bulk entry, use CSV import: it accepts any bank statement export, auto-detects the date format, and categorizes from your own history.

What do Free and Pro include?

Free covers real budgeting forever: budgets with rollover, two accounts, five subscriptions, the debt tracker and payoff planner, goals, the bills calendar and CSV export. Pro ($6.99/mo or $59/yr) removes the caps, adds direct debits, receipt attachments, reports (trends, the cycle flow chart, deep category history), custom images and accent themes. You can try everything on the live demo from the front page without creating an account.

How do 'Paid' badges work?

Subscriptions, direct debits and debts never move their own due dates. Instead, when a transaction lands whose name and amount match a commitment, the row flips to “Paid” automatically — the same matching powers the bills calendar and the “committed” figure on your dashboard. If a real payment isn't detected (say the statement name differs completely from the name you gave it), rename the commitment closer to how it appears in your ledger.

Transfers between accounts

Use the Transfer type in the Add transaction dialog. It writes one linked pair — money out of one account, into the other — and keeps both balances right while staying out of your income and spending figures entirely, because moving money isn't earning or spending it. Deleting either side removes both.

Your data

Export any list as CSV from its own page, or your entire account as a single JSON file from Settings — every transaction, budget, commitment, category and goal, in one portable document. Deleting your account erases everything immediately and permanently; there is no soft-delete copy. Questions or problems: support@vault.romsics.com.

Security

Row-level security scopes every row to your user id at the database itself, two-factor authentication (TOTP) is available in Settings and enforced end-to-end, and all traffic is encrypted in transit.
